Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Palestrina

Located in the Renaissance Barberini Palace, the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Palestrina exhibits the most important works of ancient Praeneste through a sequence of themes, from the cult of Fortune to Hellenistic and iconic sculpture, through to the Agustan and Imperial age, then on to epigraphic documents and other cults about Praeneste. Such sections have been laid out in the first-floor halls along with the famous sculptural group of Triade Capitolina, which has been recently brought to light in Guidonia.
The second floor is dedicated to necropolises and sanctuaries, while the third floor showcases a large polychrome mosaic of the flooding of the Nile and a plastic model of the Sanctuary of Fortune. The tour is completed by a visit to the cryptoporticus, the gallery that surrounded the highest terrace of the Sanctuary of Fortune, which was eventually placed in the Barberini Palace and displays a number of stone materials illustrating the history of the Sanctuary of Fortune, the city and the region.
